In October, GTC People & Business Solutions visited Automechanika Tashkent, the international trade fair for the automotive and spare parts industry in Uzbekistan. Organised by Messe Frankfurt and held alongside the comtrux, bautrux and scalex trade fairs, it brought together manufacturers, dealers and trade visitors from Central Asia and Asia – especially China and Japan – and a few from Europe at the CAEX Uzbekistan exhibition centre.
A growing market
Uzbekistan’s automotive industry is developing rapidly. The country has its own vehicle manufacturers and assembly plants, and as the number of vehicles grows, so does the demand for spare parts, workshop equipment and services.
Europe still underrepresented
Only a few European manufacturers – for example from Germany and France – were present, including MANN+HUMMEL and LIQUI MOLY. Many German brands are so far present in Uzbekistan mainly indirectly through dealers – even though “Made in Germany” has an excellent reputation there.
What this means for German companies
For German manufacturers and suppliers, now is a good time to enter the market: to build their own contacts, find reliable sales partners and establish their brand in the region before structures become fixed.
GTC People & Business Solutions helps companies get to know the Uzbek market and build solid business contacts on the ground – from market analysis to the first meeting with potential partners.
